Time for Women to Take Care of Themselves

August is National Women’s month, and a time where we can celebrate and appreciate the women in our lives.

I think it’s fair to say that most women today have a lot on their plates. Juggling full time work, running a home, and raising a family. It is very difficult to find time to look after ourselves.

But we underestimate the toll that this stress can have on our bodies. I see an increasing number of women suffering from burnout, autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, and chronic disease, including cancer.

In a time where time seems a scarce commodity, we have to prioritise carving out some of it to do things that keep us healthy – both physically and mentally. This can seem impossible but it’s not. It requires just small, consistent changes – 1 degree each day.

Start with adding just twenty minutes of an exercise that you enjoy just once a week. And do this consistently. And over time, you will gradually want to carve out more time in the week for this. As you feel like you have this one change consistent, then you add another small change.

Part of keeping healthy may be to finally address the pains in your body.

At Natalie Elias Physiotherapy, we can help with a wide range of problems in your body. From aches and pains, to injuries, to chronic fatigue. Let us come up with an individual plan to get you on the path to a healthier and happier you.

Natalie has specialised training to address women’s health specifically such as pre- and post-natal issues, and pelvic dysfunction such as incontinence and prolapse.

She is also specially trained to help with cancer rehabilitation, including lymphoedema therapy.
